Captain Chris Davy, the driving force behind Southern Fried Charters, brings a wealth of fishing experience and passion to every trip on Rodman Reservoir. His journey into fishing began in his childhood in Nashville, TN, where he spent countless hours exploring ponds and creeks within a 20-mile radius. Whether on horseback or by foot, Chris developed a deep connection with the water and a love for fishing. Early encounters with Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Rainbow and Brown Trout, and Catfish laid the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of fish.
As a teenager, Captain Chris expanded his fishing horizons, working on the Honey Chile boat in Sarasota/Longboat Key, FL, where he honed his skills targeting big fish. His passion grew, eventually leading him to become a professional fisherman in the mid-90s, specializing in Kingfish tournaments. In 2012, Captain Chris broadened his reach by hosting the Southern Sportsman Radio Show in Flagler County for eight years, further fueling his desire to share his expertise with others. Despite all his accomplishments, guiding and sharing the joy of fishing remain his true calling.
Captain Chris takes pride in tailoring each fishing trip to suit the preferences and skill levels of his guests. Whether you're an experienced angler focused on artificial bait or a family with young children looking for a fun outing, Captain Chris adapts his methods to ensure everyone has a great time. He even welcomes the family pet on board! His deep understanding of fishing techniques allows him to create personalized experiences where every guest feels included and successful, regardless of their prior fishing knowledge.
The 20' Sundance Skiff, the vessel used by Southern Fried Charters, is a meticulously restored boat with a rich history. Originally crafted in 2004, this skiff combines vintage charm with modern reliability. Powered by a 90HP Honda engine, it reaches a cruising speed of 30 knots, providing a comfortable ride across Rodman Reservoir. With ample space for up to 5 guests, it’s the perfect vessel for an enjoyable day on the water, whether you’re fishing with friends, family, or both.
